Looking back on my Passion Planner for 20-15, I’ve got to get some serious hustle in my step. We have about 90 days left in the year, and this is where most people throw in the towel.
I used to be one of those people, making that January hurdle that much more difficult to climb. Makes sense with all we know now about the compound effect–even tiny bad habits over time really add up.
Even if all we hoped for 20-15 is impossibly unattainable in just 90 days (like several of my passion goals), it’s better still to lay the foundation than to let yet another year end in disappointment.
Whether you’d hoped to run a half marathon, or begin writing your book, 90 days is still a good chunk of change to get to steppin’, both literally and metaphorically.
If by now you’ve come to realize as many do that accountability is the issue, get yourself a partner, or a whole team if you have to. If you’re convinced all your friends suck and your family doesn’t get you, pay for one; there is literally no better personal investment.
Some people work great with apps for discipline, others need a group culture to get motivated, and still others seek a personal drill sergeant to get in their face, and many more types in between.
I cannot tell you how helpful it has been for me to accept certain personality and habitual patterns so that I can find the right outside sources to keep me on my A game, or more like B+ game, a constant tweak mind you.
I like group fitness classes. Even as a personal trainer, I can barely motivate myself to workout alone.
I’m not a cook. I don’t enjoy it. I married a chef;)
I am not a morning person. #lifegoal. But I’m not there yet. Still, I’m pretty strict about the snooze.
I’m a hummingbird. My creativity likes all things sparkly and is often pulled in 1000 directions. New hire!
I have my own health coach, not Elisa.
By 20-16 I will have a new biz coach.
I take courses constantly–Podcasters Paradise may be the next;)
… you get the point.
It’s not that I’ve given up on changing habits; I will continually be a work in progress. It’s instead this growing sense of acceptance. That and I don’t have time to read 10 or 27 books on said topic, so I hire an expert. Done.
A lot of magic can happen in 90 days, so I challenge you: Don’t throw in the towel!
Do you even remember your 20-15 New Year’s resolution? Have your goals changed since?
I want to hear what you’re not giving up on! Often just making the claim is a huge step in accountability. Let me know in the comments!
Also, I have a bonus! If you think you might need a little more help on clarity and follow-through; my initial consultation is usually $150, but I’m willing to meet with the first 5 people who hit me up in Contact for free! I just so happen to have two new slots open in my coaching practice, so this may be an awesome opportunity to get in while the gettin’s good!
I leave you with this: What’s the last goal you conquered? How did you get yourself motivated or hold yourself accountable? What did you learn?
